2018-2019 Community Foundation of Greater Plymouth County Grant

In October 2018, The Community Foundation of Greater Plymouth County awarded the Akron Public Library a grant in the amount of $1,510.00 which allowed us to get some new technology. Part of this grant helped us replace our broken patron computer that was home to our online card catalog. It is a State Library standard that a library has a current and maintained online card catalog of its holdings that is easy to use and independently accessible by the public. Thanks to this grant we have once again fulfilled this standard. Another bonus to this computer is your child is free to look up their book’s accelerated reading points.

The other part of this grant let us bring in another office computer for our staff to utilize. With two computers in the office, we are now able to process new books faster, have more time to update our online catalog as well as the library’s website that has been getting a facelift.

The Library staff and its Board of Trustees are very appreciative of this grant. Thank you to the Community Foundation of Greater Plymouth County. Another thank you to Mike Husmann, our volunteer that set up our new computers and software.
