2018-2019 Pilcrow Foundation Grant

The Pilcrow Foundation supports rural public library communities through the Children's Book Project Grant.  In 2018-2019, the Akron Public Library teamed up with Brad Fowler State Farm, the Akron Chamber of Commerce, and Matthew and Carissa Derocher to raise the $400 needed to apply for the full grant amount of $1,200.  We were awarded the grant in the fall of 2018 and the books arrived in our library on January 29, 2019.  We received a total of 99 new books: 27 Junior Fiction, 22 Juvenile Non-Fiction, 18 K-3 Juvenile Non-Fiction, and 32 K-3 Fiction books.

The books were processed and presented to the public during our first-ever Open House event on April 8th, 2019.   We are so grateful for the Pilcrow Foundation and their generous donors, our local sponsors, and all the community members who support the library.
