The library provides access to several online databases and resources for patrons to use for research.  

Credo is an online encyclopedia/dictionary database with reliable information on numerous topics.


Gale is an online database of news, articles, journals, magazines, and books.


Iowa Locator is an online database that allows users to search for books and other library materials (DVDs, audiobooks) in libraries across the state.

Iowa Publications Online is an online archive of documents produced by state agencies and available for the public.  It is maintained by the State Library of Iowa.

Learning Express is an online database that allows users to access tests (including ACT/SAT prep), technology skills (Microsoft program tutorials), and career preparation tools.

Plymouth County Newspapers is an online database of newspapers published in Plymouth County, Iowa between the dates of 1876 and 2008.

Iowa State Data Center provided census information including housing, population, business, and government statistics.

Search archived local newspapers including the Akron Hometowner, Akron Register Tribune, and Akron Tribune. 

Newspapers are available from 1896 through the end of 2017.

Transparent Language Online is a program designed to help patrons learn a new language.  Individual lessons help teach listening, speaking, reading and writing.
